Inspiration for this design:

The inspiration comes from two Viking artisan's objects: A decoration of a crucifix stand (probably from the 11th century), found in Hejnum, on the island of Gotland, Sweden (upper part of image). Inspiration for the feet came from an object found in Lillhärdal, Härjedalen, Sweden (lower part of image). The designer of Look: Viking! combined those, extended the animal, and placed two of these resulting patterns mirroring each other to fully cover a square scarf.
